1Life is a freephone 24 hour Suicide Prevention Helpline (Freephone: 1-800-24-7-100). This vital helpline is a lifeline for individuals in suicidal crisis and those with any issue related to suicide or self-harm. It is currently the only dedicated 24 hour suicide intervention and prevention helpline, with a team of professional counsellors on hand around the clock, supported by a team of highly trained, specialist volunteers. 1Life is saving lives every day.

3Ts (Turn the Tide of Suicide)

The 3Ts is a registered charity founded in 2003 to raise awareness of the issue of suicide through research, intervention and support. 3Ts lobbies Government for adequate funding for suicide prevention. 3Ts provide funding assistance to frontline organisations, large and small, working in the area of suicide prevention, intervention, and post-vention, and also to commission and support research projects which, it is hoped, will help inform future suicide prevention strategies. In 2009, in collaboration with fellow charity Console, 3Ts established the 1Life Suicide Crisis Helpline Freephone 1-900-24-7-100.

Adi Roche’s Chernobyl Children International

In 20 years, CCI has effected some miraculous changes in the lives of Chernobyl’s children—and in the world’s awareness of the tragedy. Working together with the Belarusian government, the United Nations and our many volunteers, we’ve been able to deliver medical and economic aid to the affected region, fund important research and campaign for greater awareness of the issues. Today, CCI’s contributions exceed €91 million in direct and indirect aid. More importantly, the organisation has made a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of children. The original “Rest and Recuperation” programme alone has brought more than 22,000 children to Ireland, returning an average of two years to each child’s lifespan.

AIDS West is a voluntary organisation funded by HSE West, voluntary contributions from individuals, the community and corporate bodies. Founded in 1987, we are based in Galway City, Ireland. We offer the highest quality care and support to those affected by HIV/AIDS/STIs and to those worried about their sexual health. We also offer information and education on all aspects of sexual health. The organisation has expanded from a small group of dedicated volunteers who gathered together to assist HIV positive people in their final days, to a team of professional, committed people who strive to offer care and support to HIV positive people, their families and carers. All our services are completely confidential. We provide these services and support throughout the counties of Galway, Mayo and Roscommon and adjacent areas. Aislinn is a residential treatment centre which caters for 15-21 years old who are chemicaly dependent on alcohol/drugs/gambling. We have a six week programme with a two year continum care programme. During treatment the emphasis is on an integrated approach to respond to the whole person and begin to nurture their self-worth and dignity, helping them find meaning in life and a desire to live a healthy lifestyle, free from alcohol and drugs. Family participation in the residential programme and aftercare is seen as vital.
